Kakha Tchotiashvili is an artisan winemaker with an established winery in the Kakheti region of eastern Georgia. The winery location in this region is famous for its history of wine production and its suitable climate for the cultivation of several rare local grape varietals. The following grape varieties are grown: Saperavi, Khikhvi, Kisi, Mtsvane, and Rkatsiteli.
Tchotiashvili’s thought process into winemaking is precise and uniform. He notes that the condition of the grapes and tireless attention to the process is the key to successful Kvevri winemaking. All of his wines are made without any additives or chemicals and are produced in Kvevri – traditional Georgian winemaking style. He continues to cultivate his family vineyards on organic principles and makes very small batches of red and amber style wines! Each bottle is personally inspected by him before they’re numbered and released to the market. Each bottle from this winery is something special and hard to come by.
